Relase Info
Recorded in New York, "Sweet Lingering", Michael's second cd to date, moves towards the "contemporary jazz" sound, while avoiding the excesses of banality with which that genre is often plagued. Influenced by jazz, brasilian music, hip-hop rhythms and Weather Report, the music is quite lyrical and thouroghly enjoyable to listen to. The cd was largely produced by keyboardist Werner "Vana" Gierig, a formidable musician who plays regularly with famed violinist Regina Carter. Percussionist Cyro Baptista is well-known to jazz audiences, and rhythm section George Gray (drums) and Marcus McLaurine (bass) are regulars with Clark Terry's band. Guitarist Mark Lambert, who has toured extensively with Astrud Gilberto, also makes a cameo appearance.
